The CA BBS is transitioning from the use of the term “Intern” to the use of the term “Associate”. MFT Interns are now being referred to as AMFTs (Associate Marriage and Family Therapists). Please note that any reference to Interns in regards to the BBS on this site corresponds to the new label of Associate.

The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (CA BBS) accepts all courses offered by AspiraCE.com. The BBS does not approve providers directly (they stopped approving providers and renewing approvals in 2015). The BBS now defers out to other agencies and boards. AspiraCE is approved by the NBCC which the BBS accepts. Therefore, the BBS will continue to accept all courses offered by AspiraCE.
For all other states other than CA please see your particular State Board for the requirements in pursuing licensure as an MFT.
