The Solution Focused Approach: The Power of Description Course Objectives, Description, and Outline

Course Objectives:
  1. Describe how to use the Solution Focused Approach to help the client perform the description through the session.
  2. Develop confidence in using the Solution Focused Approach in their work with clients.
  3. Follow the flow of the session with their clients, regardless of the problem the client presents in session.
Course Description:

The Solution Focused Approach is very different from traditional, problem-focused ways of working with clients. The primary thing that sets this approach is the way the professional uses questions to help the client to provide a detailed description of their desired outcome becoming their reality. This means someone looking to master this approach needs to master the art of asking questions that help the client engage in the kind of description that will make a difference in their lives. That’s exactly what this lecture is about and each participant will leave the event better at this skill.

Course Outline:
  • Introductions
  • Lecture covering the Solution Focused Diamond
  • Lecture and demonstration of:
    • Desired Transformation
    • History of the outcome
    • Resource Talk
    • Ending a Session
