Course Objectives:
- Discuss at least one long-term mental, physical, and functional health consequence of unaddressed childhood trauma, including its relationship to substance use, overdose risk, and suicidality.
- Describe at least two disparities in trauma exposure, PTSD prevalence, and access to behavioral health services among racial and ethnic minority children, youth, and young adults.
- Identify at least one trauma-related patterns of coping, help-seeking behavior, and depressive outcomes across gender and developmental groups.
- Discuss at least one trauma-informed strategy for screening, assessment, and service delivery that promotes psychological safety, cultural responsiveness, and equity.
Course Description:
This guide highlights the need for organizational assessment of readiness and capacity before implementing TIA and describes strategies for such assessments. The guide focuses on implementation strategies across the following 10 domains:
