Law and Ethics CE Course

You will need to purchase 1 unit for every 1 hour of coursework to gain access to the certificate of completion.

You will receive a certificate of completion after passing the exam, completing the course evaluation, and purchasing the appropriate number of units.  The certificate of completion will then be accessible on your myCourses page in the Your Course History section under the tab “Aspira Courses I’ve Passed”.  There will be a “Download” button under the “Certificate” column that you will be able to click on to pull up your certificate once all requirements listed above have been met.

Law and Ethics CE Course – 6 Hour Online CE Course

This 6 hour Law and Ethics CE course is based upon California law for licensees, interns, and associates in CA.  This course may also be taken by licensed professionals in a state other than California, if, they are applying for a license in California or where their state law coincides with California state law.

This course has been approved by CAADE for their law and ethics requirement.

Law and Ethics CE Course Objectives and Outline:

Course Objectives:

  1. Identify at least two legal and ethical issues in counseling including but not limited to professional ethical standards and significant legal considerations.
  2. Explain at least one key factor in the licensing law and process.
  3. Describe at least one regulatory law that delineates the profession’s scope of practice, counselor-client privilege, confidentiality, the client dangerous to self or others, treatment of minors with or without parental  consent, relationship between practitioner’s sense of self and human values, functions and relationships with other human service providers, strategies for collaboration, and advocacy processes needed to address institutional and social barriers that impeded access, equity, and success for clients.
  4. Describe at least two HIPAA requirements and standards.
  5. Discuss at least two unprofessional conduct and negligence behaviors.
  6. Define at least three best standards of practice.
  7. Discuss at least two professional ethics concepts.
